Social Thought Club Initiatives was established at the Warsaw University in the year 2000. In 2003 the Club became an independent association (previously functioning as a students’ organisation). In 2006 the initial name ‘Lewiatan’ was changed into ‘Initiatives’.
Mission and strategic goals
The mission of the Club is to support people and organisations in the developments of their competence, abilities and plans connected with functioning in the society and on the job market.
Social Thought Club Initiatives is an organisation, where active people can work on their own professional development as well as support the development of the others.
Strategic goals
- to support people who strive for defining their proper place in the society and on the job market
- to support people in the process of entering and functioning on the job market through developing their social skills and others
- to influence the job market through promoting responsible social attitudes in the business environment
- to develop social skills and opportunities to functioning in the international community
Club's activities
Club’s activities are mainly addressed to people of the same age as ours - students and graduates of universities. We deal with job market issues – employment and unemployment of young people. We carry out research in the scope of social policy as well as research related to evaluating social programmes. We also organise international exchange of students and graduates of human sciences and workshops and trainings.
International Programme
Within the framework of the European Youth Programme we organise the exchange of students and graduates in co-operation with NGOs from all over Europe. So far we have carried out the projects with NGOs from Italy, Spain, Rumania and Turkey, to name but a few. Each international meeting aims at getting to know the problems, which other local communities are facing. We diagnose those difficulties on a common basis and try to find solutions. We intend to get involved in other exchange programmes as well.
Training Programme
We organise trainings and workshops for students, graduates, young high school people, volunteers. Our training projects conducted by experienced trainers, which gained their experience through carrying out trainings in their jobs as well as in social organisations. The graduates of train-for-trainers workshops organised by Initiatives are also involved in the organisation of those trainings.
Training Skills Workshops are organised by Initiatives for students, graduates, workers and volunteers of NGOs as well as the unemployed people with high education. The goal of those workshops is to transfer the knowledge on organisations and trainings.
The Find a job! trainings are organised for high-school pupils. Their aim is to transfer the knowledge and abilities on how to function on the job market, how to prepare the job application, how to talk to a future employer and how to search for a job efficiently.
